Description
How important is formal musical instruction in a child’s education? Plato said of music, “It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” In Donn Hallman’s workshop, “The Importance of Music for the Homeschooler”, we will investigate how math, history, literature, poetic arts, and science all manifest in music. We will explore the strategies and benefits of musical instruction and learn how it cultivates a well-rounded education and the development of a child’s mind through knowledge of and participation in piano, orchestra, concert band, choir and other ensembles. The study of music has proved to be essential for growth in communication, creativity, discipline, and cooperation. After all, where would we be without “the music-makers… the dreamers of dreams”?
