“This has been a year like no other with new families and expanding classes … I’ve been working 70+ hours a week for several weeks now … and my son is getting married in two weeks.”

Leslie Blankshain, Homeschool Family Ministries
Support Network Leader

Yes, it has been a year like no other. Since the onset of the Coronavirus and subsequent school closures last March, group after group in CHEA’s Support Network is reporting significant growth. Along with that significant growth comes a significant increase in workload. An increase in questions from distraught and confused parents. The same questions over and over, enough to try the most patient of souls. With so many means of communication in today’s culture, it would seem one must always be “open” and “at the beck and call” of those we serve.

Add to that unemployment and financial struggles our members and even our own families are experiencing. And not least of all, leading with an uncertain future because we don’t know from one month to the next what our groups will be able to do. This creates a perfect storm for weariness and discouragement.

With so much in the state being shut down, don’t forget you have this open invitation from our Savior, an invitation like no other. “Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 NASB.

Because He was fully man, He can relate with our weariness. Because He is fully God, He can sustain you and give you rest. For those battling discouragement, remember for Him, the future is anything but uncertain. He knows the end from the beginning. You can trust the future to Him, because He promises He will accomplish His purposes for you and your group.

“I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’” Isaiah 46:10 NIV.
